I adore summer. The relaxed schedules, family visits, cookouts with friends! I love it all. Granted, I could use a break from the super hot temperatures that we've had lately, but overall...I love it. One thing that I don't adore is grocery shopping. (Sigh!) I don't like the amount of time that I spend at the store and the way that every visit seems to suck every last penny from our bank account, even if I've spent time collecting coupons. Well, fellow grocery grouches, I have found something that has revolutionized my grocery visits and seems to save me a bit of money too. A WIN-WIN! Maybe some of you have done this for years, if so, kuddos, but I'm just figuring this out. So, I started by making a list of some of our family's favorite lunch and dinner dishes. That didn't take any time at all. Then I made a master grocery list (arranged by the layout of the grocery where I typically shop) of all the items that we typically buy. This took a bit of time, but the great thing about it is that you can add to it as you think of other items. Then, when it's time to go to the grocery, I think of the meals that we'll eat that week, grab my highlighter and just mark the items on my master list that I need. It sounds simple, but it has saved me so much time at the store and it has helped me to not spend as much when I get there. I've attached my meal list and master grocery list if you'd like to take a look. I'm always in search of new meals to add to our list, so feel free to share your ideas below.
